Occasional anxiety and depression is a normal part of life. You might feel anxious and depressed when faced with a problem at work, before taking a test, or making an important decision. But depression and anxiety disorders involve more than temporary worry or fear. For a person with an anxiety disorder, the anxiety and depression does not go away and can get worse over time. The feelings can be an hindrance to your daily activities such as job performance, school work, and relationships.
Gemma Correll, a comic artist, has made an effort to convey the experience that is anxiety and depression using some humorous and not-so-humorous comics. Gemma’s illustrations tap directly into what it feels like to have the two types of mental illness that many people can’t fully understand. Most of her illustrations or comics have even been created to directly contribute to Mental Health America’s #mentalillnessfeelslike campaign.
